Some stories are too real to be made up.

Stressed, Depressed and All The Rest is a heartbreakingly honest, darkly funny debut novel about chasing...

My name’s Stuart Wark. I’m a 30-year-old debut author from Scotland, completely new to the world of creative writing. I’m tall, incredibly gorgeous, hung… and have brown eyes. Just kidding — they’re blue.

I’ll be honest — my written English skills aren’t perfect, but I’ve always had a head full of stories.

Before writing this book, the only things I’d ever written were board reports for hotel owners and staff training presentations. After years climbing the ladder in the hotel industry — and a few unexpected health issues (including four eye operations) — I finally decided to swap spreadsheets for storytelling.

A lot of the wild, funny, and sometimes heartbreaking moments in my writing are drawn straight from real life. It’s messy, emotional, and honest — much like me.

When I’m not writing or getting my eyes poked and prodded, you’ll find me listening to music, watching horror films, or getting far too invested in sports results. This is my first book, but it definitely won’t be my last.

From the first chapter, I was completely immersed in William and McKenna’s world. The author has a gift for crafting characters so real, they feel like people you’ve known for years. Their struggles—toxic relationships, self-doubt, and the messy journey of figuring out who to keep in your life—hit painfully close to home. The raw, unfiltered dialogue and emotional depth kept me hooked. I need a sequel—I’m not ready to say goodbye to these characters!

Absolutely loved this book. It made me laugh, broke my heart a little, and I couldn’t put it down. The characters feel so real and the mix of dark humor, messy love, and music made it such a unique read. If you like stories that aren’t afraid to get a little raw but still leave you hopeful, you’ll love this. Highly recommend! Have already started reading it again

ow, this book has blown me away. From the very first page I was intrigued and then rapidly sucked into the world of William and then McKenna. All the characters feel so real and all with their own unique personalities. I really felt I was right there along with them through their everyday struggles and accomplishments, all very reflective of most people's daily lives. We all have or have had people around us who don't really have our best interests at heart and then have to make the big decision whether to carry on with them in our life or cut them out for our own sanity.
I really hope the author Stuart Wark continues to write such wonderful colourful stories and also so I can find out what happens next to the band, plus William and McKenna's journey together. I'm sure it won't be a straight road.
